Our story
Bee Buzzy Crossing trades agricultural by-products and grain across South Africa — direct from producer to off-taker, with as little as possible in between.
01 Who we are
In 2019 Jannie and Leonora Dippenaar moved their family to Cape Town and drew on a lifetime of savings to pay for their first load of stock, out of pocket. Nothing commits you to a business quite like that.
It was no standing start. Jannie had three decades in the feed industry behind him — twenty-seven of them trading — and years before that farming dairy and making its feed himself.
Which is where the lesson landed: cattle have to be fed, whatever else is going on. On-time delivery isn't a service level — it's the job.
02 The name
A hive keeps no off-season. The work is constant, unglamorous and depends entirely on everyone doing their part — which is a fair description of moving grain. The name is simply the standard we hold ourselves to: keep working, keep moving, get the load there.
03 What we trade
Agricultural by-products are our main focus and our genuine passion. The grains traded across Africa follow naturally from the base we have built in them over the years.
04 How we trade
We buy direct from producers and sell direct to final off-takers. Every hand removed from the middle is value that stays with the people growing the crop and the people using it.
We work with the most reliable transporters in the industry — operators for whom on-time delivery and service to everyone involved matters as much as it does to us.
Trading lives or dies on logistics and good administration. Every role in our operation is built around those two functions, and each person's work follows on from the next.
05 The team
Each duty follows on from the next. We carry the same goal, with every person bringing a different passion to the process — moving ourselves, and the families we support, forward.
06 What we stand for
We do what we say. There is no space here for the grey-area dealing that has become common in our industry — we would rather build careers and support our families without bending the basic values that too many have quietly abandoned.
And no space for excuses. There are no problems, only attitude. Any load moved successfully is a load more than before, and that will always be the measure.
07 Where we're going
The immediate aim is 10 000 tonnes of by-products moved every month. The building block after that is to professionalise further — and to operate consistently above the standard the industry sets for itself.
